Japan Day 2: Mitaka, Shinjuku & Ikebukuro

1. Ghibli Museum
This museum was absolutely awesome. Got to see a 15 minute short and lots of sketches and artwork. Such an amazing talent! Couldn't take pictures inside the museum unfortunately though. There were a lot of really cool motion picture displays too!

3. Shinjuku....

We were supposed to go on a walking tour through Shinjuku hitting Kinokuniya (a bookstore), Isetan (a shopping mall), a shrine, Golden Gai (a whole block of bars), and a theatre plaza known for street performers. The start and all points on this walking tour were really hard to find. Basically everything in Shinjuku was really hard to find. Shinjuku is crazy!  We got super lost and I started to get cranky so we just went towards the neon and found a great little hole in the wall bar. You ordered from a tablet at your table. It was our first experience with fountain beer. Basically like a fountain drink, but with beer. Freaking awesome! The bartender only needed to push a button and the fountain pours the beer and then adds the perfect amount of foam on top. Yolanda decided to order a "hoppy" because she thought it would literally be a hoppy beer. LOL. It was not. It was sochu (moonshine made from sweet potatoes) and a beer soda type of drink. We got finished there and walked around the red light district for a while. Eye opening to be sure. Every 'club salesman' looked the same: poofy hair, black skinny jeans, black blazer, wallet chain. Strange.

Hoppy vs. Real Beer. Real beer wins.
