Heart Series: Image II

Bowerbirds are amazing creatures.

The male will build a nest-like structure and decorate it with sticks and other objects to lure a female for mating. The structure they make is only for mating and not where the young are raised. In some ways it is amazingly similar to the courtship of humans. The male bowerbird will find different objects such as shells, leaves, stones, berries, etc to decorate their mating structures. They will match these objects by color and style, creating a visually appealing design. It is thought that the bowerbird uses items that they know will be preferential to the female they are trying to entice.

I am also fascinated by the human heart, it's many successes and it's many failures. I chose to use the image of the bowerbird's mating nest to show how one will try to lure in another heart. Decorating the nest with rose petals, conversation hearts, and strawberries as a human might do in the course of dating.
